The castles at Conwy and Caernarfon are also within easy reach. There are numerous steam railways, including the Llangollen Railway and Bala Lake Railway, and the Ffestiniog Railway, Snowdon Mountain Railway, and Welsh Highland Railway to the west in Snowdonia. The nearby town of Llangollen is home to the famous International Eisteddfod, and is well worth a visit. The roman city of Chester with its extensive shopping centre is only 30 miles away just over the border in England. There are numerous activities available for those who enjoy outdoor activities. The North Wales Borderlands and Snowdonia offer a wide range of options for walking, climbing, and mountain biking. There are cycle paths in the nearby Llandegla Forest.
